IN THE
NI ASSEMBLY
Robin served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for North Antrim for thirteen years. During that time, he held several senior roles, including Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party from 2017 to 2019.
While in the Assembly, he also served as UUP Chief Whip for five years, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, and Chairman of the Employment and Learning Committee.

MINISTER OF HEALTH
Robin is perhaps best known for his two terms as Northern Ireland’s Minister for Health. He took up the position in January 2020 and just weeks later was tasked with leading the health service through the most significant challenge in its history.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Robin became a familiar and steadying presence for the public. He was widely respected for his calm leadership and his constant focus on supporting frontline staff. His commitment to the health service during this crisis led to him being named joint UK Politician of the Year at the 2022 Civility in Politics Awards.
One of his most significant legislative achievements was the introduction of Dáithí’s Law. This landmark legislation moved Northern Ireland to an opt-out system for organ donation. Named after a brave young campaigner called Dáithí Mac Gabhann, the law was designed to increase the number of life-saving organs available for transplant.
In early 2024, Robin returned to the Department of Health for a second term. His immediate priority was to resolve long-running industrial action by securing a fair pay settlement for healthcare workers. He also focused on long-term strategies for cancer care and mental health to ensure the health service could rebuild and face the future with confidence.
SERVING SOUTH ANTRIM
Since being elected as the Member of Parliament for South Antrim in July 2024, Robin has quickly established himself as a strong and experienced voice for the constituency in Westminster, raising a wide range of issues for the people, farmers and businesses he represents.
He currently represents Northern Ireland on the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly. In these roles, he works to build vital relationships and ensures that Northern Ireland’s unique economic and political interests are protected in our post-Brexit relationship with Europe. Robin is also a member of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme where he has worked alongside the Royal Air Force.
Robin secured a place on the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee in 2026 and has been a strong advocate for the union, Northern Ireland, and South Antrim.

Robin lives in the village of Kells with his wife Jennifer and their two children. Outside of politics, he has a long history of involvement with the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster and remains an active member of several local community organisations. He believes in a brand of politics that is pragmatic and grounded in the everyday reality of life for his constituents.
