Christmas Message 2024

As Christmas and the new year draw closer, it’s right that we reflect on what has been an eventful and busy year. I had the privilege of being elected by the people of South Antrim to serve in Westminster as your Member of Parliament, and this has been a great privilege and honour.

With that election came a new government in Westminster too. That itself has presented new opportunities, as well as many great challenges, particularly for our farmers, pensioners, and small businesses. I know that this Christmas many small business owners will be anxious about the new financial year ahead and the changes to national insurance. Family farmers will be thinking about the future of their farms, and what the changes to inheritance tax and the farm subsidy payments will mean for them and their children and grandchildren. There will also be many pensioners who won’t be receiving their winter fuel payment, some missing out due to only a few pounds. I can assure you that I will continue to stand up for you in the new year and beyond, as well as all the people of South Antrim, and know that through my constituency office, my team and I will do what we can to support you.

It's important that we continue to be considerate and to think of others this time of year. The many towns and villages of South Antrim have such great community spirit and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with many of these groups from across the constituency and to see first-hand the brilliant work that they do. As we look ahead into next year, I’m looking forward to being there for all of you who need our support, and to working with the businesses, community groups, charities and other organisations which play such an important role in the communities of South Antrim.

I hope that you all have a safe and enjoyable Christmas period with those closest to you. Have Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
