Domestic abuse is a national emergency – Swann

South Antrim MP Robin Swann has pledged his support for Women’s Aid’s 16 Days of Activism and to victims of domestic violence.

After attending an important event hosted by Women’s Aid in Westminster to mark this campaign, Mr Swann reflected:

“It is time to treat domestic violence like the national emergency that it is. It was shocking to learn that women are three times more likely to be killed by their partner than they are from not wearing a seta belt in a car crash. Violence against women and girls must remain a key priority for the Northern Ireland Executive and for the Westminster government.

“Women’s Aid do such important work locally and across the UK, and I’m proud to support their vital work, and the women they are there for 365 days a year.”
