Local Famers travel to Westminster to push Government to Scrap Family Farm Tax
South Antrim MP Robin Swann has met with a delegation of farmers in Westminster head of the budget later this month. George Robson from Doagh and Sammy Moore from Burnside were part of the Ulster Farmers' Union's delegation and engaged with Robin Swann MP about the impact the Family Farm Inheritance Tax will have on farms like theirs.
Mr Swann said:
"The Family Farm Tax, due to start in the new financial year, is causing farms across South Antrim a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty. It's an issue that I've been pushing hard against, urging the government to ditch this plan at every opportunity, over the past 12 months.
"The budget is now only days away and I call on the Chancellor to listen to farmers like George and Sammy, and act to ensure farms stay with families, to protect food security, and to provide farmers with the clarity and certainty they need to plan ahead."
