South Antrim MP Robin Swann has raised concerns with the Department for Infrastructure following reports from constituents that Post Offices across Antrim have run out of driving licence renewal forms.
Mr Swann was contacted by residents who were unable to obtain the necessary paperwork at local branches. While DFI has confirmed that a new batch of forms has been printed and dispatch is imminent, the shortage has caused disruption.
Mr Swann said:
"Constituents have been left in a difficult position due to this lack of supply.
"The official renewal reminder letters specifically direct people to collect a form from their local Post Office. When these are unavailable it forces people toward the online system, which is not an accessible or practical alternative for everyone, particularly less tech-savvy renewers."
"I welcome the news that a fresh order of forms is finally enroute to our Post Offices. However, DFI must be more proactive in its contingency planning to ensure these essential paper-based services remain available for those who rely on them."
