Swann Encourages Young People to Get Involved in Politics

Robin Swann MP has met with young people from the Northern Ireland Youth Forum in Westminster this week.

As well as giving them a behind-the-scenes look around the Palace of Westminster alongside Lord Elliott, Mr Swann met with the young people to discuss their Democracy Pledge and how to get more young people engaged in politics.

The NI Youth Forum have four pledges as part of the ‘Your Voice Week’ campaign centred around increasing youth participation in civil society:

  1. Encourage young people to get informed, get involved and register to vote

  2. Engage with, support and amplify youth voices in decision-making processes

  3. Share information in a clear and accessible way, avoiding misinformation and hard to read language

  4. To support and advocate for youth-friendly political education in schools and youth work settings.

Following their discussions, the South Antrim MP Robin Swann was very happy to commit to these pledges.
