South Antrim MP Robin Swann has congratulated the organisers, volunteers and exhibitors following another highly successful Antrim Show, describing the annual event as one of the highlights of the local calendar.

Mr Swann praised the work of the Antrim Show Committee in delivering an event that continues to grow in both quality and popularity.

"The Antrim Show keeps getting better every year, and huge credit is due to the Show Committee and the many volunteers whose hard work makes it such a success," he said.

"From the outstanding livestock on display and the excellent home industries exhibits to the demonstrations and the Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster competitions in the main arena, there truly was something for everyone. The Show continues to showcase the very best of our agricultural community and rural life in South Antrim."

Mr Swann also took part in one of the lighter moments of the day, competing alongside fellow MP Carla Lockhart in a friendly cook-off judged by broadcaster and food writer Jenny Bristow.

"Carla and I both gave it our best in the cook-off, with Jenny Bristow diplomatically declaring it a draw," he joked.

"I'll simply say that having home advantage in South Antrim may have counted for something, but I'll leave everyone else to decide who really came out on top."

Mr Swann added that events such as the Antrim Show play an important role in bringing communities together while celebrating the vital contribution made by farming families and the wider rural economy.
