Swann Raises Concerns for Elderly as Electric Costs Increase

In light of the announcement from Power NI that household electricity prices will be going up by 4 percent from next year, South Antrim MP Robin Swann has said:

“About 500,000 household customers in Northern Ireland will be impacted by this price increase, many of whom are in South Antrim. As we head into the winter months, this news has come as a particular concern in light of the new budget and Labour seeing through the removal of the winter fuel payment from pensioners.

“An increase in electricity costs and the loss of the winter fuel allowance for 249,000 pensions in Northern Ireland will see much of our elderly population having a cold winter.”
