South Antrim MP Robin Swann has stepped in to help resolve a period of significant uncertainty for car owners following the collapse of the personalised number plate company, Click4Reg.

The firm’s entry into liquidation has left many customers concerned about the status of registration plates they had already purchased. When impacted drivers contacted the DVLA for guidance, they were initially told to speak directly to the liquidator. This led to a frustrating and stressful back and forth with the liquidator saying they had no interest in the plates while the DVLA continued to redirect customers.

Following an intervention from Mr Swann’s office, the DVLA has now apologised for the confusion. They have also confirmed that the liquidator holds no interest in the registration numbers listed on Click4Reg’s records. Importantly, the DVLA has committed to advising customers directly on how to proceed with their registrations.

Commenting on the development, Robin Swann MP said:

"The liquidation of Click4Reg caused a great deal of anxiety for people who had spent significant sums on personalised plates. Being caught in a loop between a government agency and a liquidator only added to that stress. I am pleased that my office was able to secure a clear answer and an apology from the DVLA. It is vital that these customers now receive the straightforward guidance they need to secure their plates."
