Swann Signs Cross-Party Letter Urging Prime Minister to Deliver for WASPI Women
South Antrim MP Robin Swann has joined MPs from ten political parties across the House of Commons in signing a joint letter to the Prime Minister, calling for immediate action and compensation for 1950s-born women impacted by changes to the State Pension age.
The letter follows findings by the Parliamentary Ombudsman concluding that affected women suffered an injustice due to historic communication failures surrounding the pension age changes.
Speaking after co-signing the letter, Robin Swann MP said:
"Thousands of 1950s-born women across South Antrim and the wider UK have faced significant financial hardship and emotional distress through no fault of their own.
"The Ombudsman’s findings were clear, yet years later, these women are still having to campaign for the fairness they are owed. I am proud to join colleagues from across Parliament to urge the Prime Minister to meet urgently with the WASPI campaign and set out a clear plan for compensation this autumn."
